About the Teacher/Welcome Msg

Mrs. Lane: This will be my 17th year to teach. I absolutely love teaching and working with children of all ages. Besides teaching my preschool babies, I tutor preschool all the way to high school math.  I graduated from Ole Miss in 2004 and taught Kindergarten at East Tate Elementary for two years. Then I taught the Occupational Guidance Class at HHS for one year.  This is my 14th year to teach preschool.  I also have a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a National Board Certification. I am the proud wife to Robert Carter and mother of four children: Zac-23, Graham-15, Addie Kate-13, and Kyleigh-11.

Mrs. Erin: This will be my 3rd year as an assistant. My first two years were spent in Kindergarten at Hernando United Methodist Church Pre-School and Kindergarten. I attended Mississippi State University. I was a substitute for many years at Tunica Academy in 3K-12th grade, as well as HUMC, before accepting a position there. I am married to John Allen Hill and we have 3 children: Webb-16, Harper-9, and Turner-9.

Welcome to the Childcare/Preschool Class at OGCE!

This handbook was created to answer the most commonly asked questions about the childcare/ preschool program at OGCE.  We are very excited about the new school year and we hope it is a great experience for you and your child.

Preschool Curriculum: Children learn through direct, hands-on experiences with people, objects, events, and ideas. Our curriculum is based with an emphasis on language rich and multi-sensory activities.  Themes relate to children’s real-life experiences so they can build on what they already know.  I utilize the Hand Writing With Out Tears (HWOT) Program, OWL Curriculum, and The Letter People.  They focus on recognizing, identifying, and writing each letter, as well as numbers, shapes, and colors.  Each child will receive their own HWOT workbook.  The program has various hands-on activities, songs, and books to go along with the letters. We will also continue to get Scholastic magazines this year!

Class size: Our preschool class consists of 12 students. We have 4 boys and 8 girls.
